SINCE 2018
Yi is a bright fifteen year old boy with Cerebral Palsy who lives with his parents and siblings in Changsha. He has a five year old brother with autism, 煊 Xuan, who attends school in a special education center. Yi and his family live above the center.
SINCE 2019
Haozi is a cute and active six year old girl with a developmental delay and a slight intellectual disability. Her mother accompanies her each week to her Physical Therapy and Special Education with our FPP professionals. They have worked with Haozi on her balance and mobility training.
SINCE 2018
Dongdong is a lively, joyful little boy with Down’s Syndrome. He attends weekly special education and therapy sessions at our FPP Family Services Centre, and is responding to them well. As his family lives in a rural area and are therefore not residents of Changsha city, they are unfortunately not able to participate in government-funded programmes.
SINCE 2019
Yuchen is a happy teenage girl with Cerebral Palsy who likes to laugh and learn. Her parents both work but still make time to surround her with love and care. She loves to have visitors and recently insisted on wearing her favorite pink outfit when she knew our FPP staff were coming.
SINCE 2019
Fanfan and his older brother Guo live with a wonderful, supportive mother. Guo, the eldest brother, is twelve years old and has autism and a cognitive delay. His younger brother Fanfan is five years old and has since been diagnosed with Rasmussen’s Encephalitis, Hepatitis B and Epilepsy. This has caused cognitive impairment and delays in his motor skills.
Yachen is a sensitive and generous girl with a great capacity for learning. In her initial assessment, she took the initiative to show the FPP staff her art works, English self-introduction, and mathematics awards. Yachen is hard-working and FPP has been providing rehabilitation training, we look forward to continuing with Yachen and her family on this journey.
Jiaxin lives with her father, who works as a truck driver, and her mother, who manages her care and studies. In the initial years of Jiaxin’s life her parents struggled financially to afford therapy for Jiaxin, which is how they came into contact with FPP. After FPP’s initial assessment, it was determined that the focus of Jianxin’s future sessions would be socialization, self care skills and language development.
SINCE 2012
Jiajia was born in 2008 with brain damage and a cognitive impairment. His grandparents are his primary caregivers and have been providing home therapy from an early age.
SINCE 2016
FPP first got to know Junlin during the 2019 FPP Summer Camp. We had the privilege of providing respite for his family by taking charge of him for three days and four nights.
SINCE 2015
Lele has Cerebral Palsy and her grandmother is her primary caregiver. When Lele was 5 years old, her Grandma first learned about FPP through a friend. Until that point, Lele’s grandmother had been conducting at-home therapy with limited resources.
SINCE 2019
Jinsong was born in 1999 and his grandmother is his primary caregiver. His mother works in a neighboring province to support the family, visiting him regularly. His grandmother shared freely with us during our Cross Care Team visit. Jinsong can be a bit shy and it takes him a while to warm up to strangers.
Xuan has three siblings, and his elder brother, Yi, is also a member of the FPP program. He attends a specialized school in Changsha and is supported by his mother and father. Xuan has been making good progress. When his special program had to shut down because of the pandemic, our FPP professional staff stepped in to fill the gap, particularly through speech therapy.
Da is a well-behaved boy who loves to laugh. FPP is currently providing speech therapy training for Da, designed to improve his muscle training through speech exercises. We look forward to supporting him as he continues to develop and grow.
Wenyue has a close relationship with her parents who have built a cheerful, loving environment for her and are actively working with FPP to support Wenyue. While Wenyue’s mother already provides valuable support for her studies, FPP will also assist with socialization and language development.
Xiaoding is a young woman who FPP works with to provide therapy and vocational training, as well as providing support for her family with respite care.
Shuangjun is an optimistic and active young man with Cerebral Palsy. He enjoys participating in FPP events and helps his family around the house where he is able. Recently, Shuangjun’s mother had an appointment for work and needed someone to stay with her son for the day, so she reached out to FPP. Our teachers volunteered to spend the day with Shuangjun, and his mother expressed her thanks in a heartfelt note, an excerpt is featured below:
SINCE 2012
Zhiguo is a young man with Cerebral Palsy and has been a member of the Family Partners Program since 2012. His mother is primarily responsible for his care while his father works during the day in an appliance shop near their apartment building. They live in an apartment on the sixth floor without elevator access, so each day Zhiguo’s father carries him up and down the stairs, often twice a day.
Hongyi is a ten-year-old boy who our FPP professionals are currently working with weekly to provide Sensory Integration and Speech and Language Therapy. Hongyi is a member of a loving family and he spends most of his weekdays in the care of his grandparents while his parents are at work. When his sister returns from school she often plays with Hongyi.
After Hanghang joined the FPP program, his mother had valuable input and expressed her desire for Hanghang to have access to more opportunities, particularly in education and speech therapy. We look forward to continuing with them both on this journey and helping Hanghang to reach his full potential.
